Douglas J. Herrington | CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores | Amazon website

Amazon and Crye Precision have recently joined forces to file a joint lawsuit against counterfeiters attempting to sell fake products on the Amazon platform. Crye Precision, a company specializing in high-quality military and police uniforms and equipment, commended Amazon for their dedication to eradicating counterfeit products and protecting intellectual property. Jonathan Antone, general counsel and chief of staff for Crye Precision, praised Amazon's Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU) for leading the charge in the fight against counterfeiters, allowing Crye Precision to focus on designing and manufacturing life-saving gear for military and law enforcement personnel.

The collaboration between Amazon and Crye Precision is just one of many successful efforts by the CCU to hold bad actors accountable. Earlier this year, joint lawsuits with family-owned businesses like Dutch Blitz and J.L Childress resulted in significant statutory damages, sending a strong message about the consequences of counterfeiting. The CCU has also worked closely with small and medium-sized brands, such as KF Beauty, Oofos, Felco, and Therabody, to protect their interests and ensure customers can shop with confidence on Amazon.

Since its founding, the CCU has pursued over 21,000 bad actors through litigation and criminal referrals to law enforcement, demonstrating Amazon's commitment to protecting brands and customers from counterfeit, fraud, and abuse. The team's dedication is evident in the 2023 Brand Protection Report, which highlights their efforts to drive counterfeits to zero and protect the integrity of the Amazon marketplace.

The lawsuits filed by Amazon and its partners have made a significant impact, with successful resolutions and substantial damages awarded to the affected brands. These legal actions, including the recent joint lawsuit with Crye Precision, serve as a deterrent to counterfeiters and reinforce Amazon's commitment to combating intellectual property infringement.

The joint lawsuit filed by Amazon and Crye Precision falls under case number 2:24-cv-00394 in the United States District Court Western District of Washington, adding to a series of legal victories in the ongoing battle against counterfeiters.
