CITY OF EVANSTON: Jamming Jean Music Series to be held on June 7

City of Evanston recently issued the following announcement.

Date: 06/07/2019 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: Levy Senior Center 300 Dodge Avenue Evanston , Illinois 60202

7 piece jazz ensemble The Fat Babies will perform classics from the '20s and '30s as a part of the Levy Senior Center Foundation's Jamming Jean Music Series on Friday, June 7, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Founded in 2010 by string bass player Beau Sample, its members include Andy Schumm, John Otto, Dave Bock, John Donatowicz, Paul Asaro, and Alex Hall. Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune says, "Ensembles that play early-period jazz are in perpetually short supply, and those that handle repertoire of Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louie Armstrong and other pioneers. are rarer still. These musicians dispatch pre-bebop music with the passion and respect it deserves."

Named in honor of a former Levy Center member, the Jamming Jean Music Series features music and musicians that reflect Evanston and its cultural diversity. Bring the entire family for a fun way to kick off the weekend. Concerts are free and open to all. A food truck and cash bar will be available for refreshments.
