TUCSON — The 390th Memorial Museum, the only World War II-focused museum in Arizona, recently earned the American Alliance of Museums' Core Documents Verification, making it one of only 75 museums in the U.S. to receive the verification. 

The 390th Memorial Museum was honored with the alliance's verification for its efforts to demonstrate excellence and have in place an educational mission, ethics, planning, emergency and collections stewardship polices.

“One reason we undertook this outside review was to show the public that the museum has in place the policies and plans that are essential to good museum management," museum Executive Director Walter Scales said in a statement. "These policies provide our staff and governing authority the structure, ethical grounding, and accountability needed to make informed and consistent decisions for the good of our public and in support of our mission and sustainability.” 

The 390th Museum provides visitors with a look at the air war over Europe during World War II through the 390th Bombardment Group and houses a fully restored B-17 Flying Fortress. Located on the grounds of the Pima Air & Space Museum, it offers free admission and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
